Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-Bangladesh for the first time is going to allocate a separate fund for the children in the next fiscal year beginning in July.
The Bangladesh government took the decision in the awake of the growing demand for separate allocation for children in the national budget, sources to the finance ministry said.
Bangladesh Finance Minister AMA Muhith will place the national budget for fiscal year-2015-16 in the National Parliament at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, on Thursday.
During his budget speech Thursday, the finance minister would give some directives regarding a separate budget allocation for children, the sources added.
The children’s budget would describe major programmes to better serve children.
Rights bodies have long been demanding that there should be specific allocation for children in the national budget to ensure adequate services for all children and establish their rights in the country.
