Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks extended their gaining streak for the third straight sessions on Wednesday amid increased participation of investors.
The market opened higher in the morning and the positive trend sustained till the market closure amid marginal volatility.
At the end of the session, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up 20.70 points or 0.45 percent to settle at 4,527.42 points.
The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 4.25 points or 0.24 percent to close at 1,746.07 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES), moved up by 2.47 points or 0.22 percent to end at 1,104.17 points.
Turnover on the premier bourse stood at BDT 4.47 billion, which was 9.02 percent higher than the previous day’s BDT 4.10 billion.
A total of 316 issues traded on the day. Of which, 200 closed in the green, 85 in red and 31 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Tosrifa Industries, which made trading debut at DSE today, was the day’s top turnover leader with shares worth BDT 250.27 million changing hands followed by GP, United Airways, KPCL and Familytex BD.
The port city bourse Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended in green with its Selective Categories Index – CSCX – gained 46.52 points to close at 8,470.49 points.
Gainers beat losers 145 to 58, with 26 issues remaining unchanged at the port city bourse that traded 12.08 million shares and mutual fund units, turnover of BDT 440 million.
