Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks ended almost flat on Thursday after remaining down in the past four consecutive sessions as some investors went on late hour buying binge on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous four day’s losses, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened with a slow trend amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 12 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse rose 16 points at 10:45am.

After that the market started to decline. After 30 minutes of trading, DSE key index fell more than 2.0 points while the All Shares Price Index of port city bourse lost 5.0 points at 11.00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE fell more than 16.54 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse lost 59 points at 12noon.

However, the last hour bouncy helped the DSEX closed more than 6.0 points higher, but All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse ended 0.47 points lower.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE went up by 6.87 points or 0.11 percent to settle at 6,179 points.

The two other indices also edged higher. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 6.74 points or 0.29 percent to close at 2,260 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 3.58 points or 0.25 percent to finish at 1,391 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 3.81 billion, which was 15 percent lower than the previous day’s turnover of BDT 4.48 billion.

Square Pharmaceuticals topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 239 million changing hands, closely followed IFAD Autos BDT 199 million, Paramount Textile BDT 134 million, Aamra Networks BDT 121 million and National Tubes BDT 101 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 107 advanced, 165 declined and 62 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

However, the port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) closed slightly lower with CSE All Share Price Index – CAPSI –losing 0.47 points to finish at 19,098 points.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX – also lost 0.33 points to close at 11,535 points.

Of the issues traded, 69 gained, 126 declined and 39 issues remained unchanged with BDT 209 million in turnover.
