Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks failed to stay in the positive trend at midday on Monday as some investors are booking profits on sector-wise stocks.

Following the previous three days’ negative trend, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 8.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 0.72 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 7.0 Points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 12 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell more than 4.0 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 38 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,459 points, losing 4.85 points or 0.08 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, also fell 6.54 points to reach at 1904 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 1.34 points to stand at 1,263 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.96 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.

Khulna Power was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 506 million changing hands, followed by Active Fine BDT 198 million, ML Dyeing BDT 119 million, Intech BDT 98 million and BBS Cables BDT 89 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 118 advanced, 151 declined and 52 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downturn till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–losing 38 points to stand at 16,835 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also fell 23 points to reach at 10,205 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 59 gained, 85 declined and 15 issues remained unchanged with BDT 96 million in turnover.
