Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks maintained the positive trend at midday on Tuesday as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks encouraged by the government’s steps to mitigate the ongoing liquidity crunch.

Following the previous three days’ sharp gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened higher while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw negative trend at opening amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse gained more than 13 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse fell 20 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 27 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 3.0 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 11 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 30 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,838 points, advancing 11.10 points or 0.20 percent at 12noon.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 9.22 points or 0.42 percent to reach at 2,186 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 7.20 points or 0.53 percent to stand at 1,362 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.48 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Beximco Pharma was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 85 million changing hands, closely followed by IFAD Autos BDT 83 million, Islami Bank BDT 72 million, BBS cables BDT 67 million and Lafarge-Holcim BDT 62 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 147 advanced, 116 declined and 54 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse –gaining 30 points to stand at 18,011 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 17 points to reach at 10,886 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 81 gained, 59 declined and 22 issues remained unchanged with BDT 130 million in turnover.
