Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in the positive trend at midday on Sunday as some investors remained active on sector-wise stocks amid pre-Eid optimism.

Only one trading session is left before Eid-ul-Azha vacation.

Following the previous last week’s upward movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher amid low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 25 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 22 points at 10:45am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 23 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 18 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX advanced more than 26 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index gained 104 points at 12noon when the report was filed.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,494 points, advancing 26.69 points or 0.48 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 12 points to reach at 1927 points till then.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also rose 1.54 points to stand at 1,248 points till then.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 2.18 billion when the report was filed at 12noon.

BBS Cables was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth BDT 126 million changing hands, closely followed by LankaBangla Finance BDT 89 million, City Bank BDT 80 million, International Leasing BDT 54 million and Rupali Life Insurance BDT 53 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 111 advanced,  174 declined and 33 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse–gaining 104 points to stand at 16,918 points, also at 12noon.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 64 points to reach at 10,245 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 72 gained, 80 declined and 11 issues remained unchanged with BDT 87 million in turnover.
