Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh’s stocks stayed in positive territory at midday on Tuesday as optimistic investors continued their buying spree on sector-wise stocks ahead of Eid festival.

Following the previous day’s moderate gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw positive trend at opening amid increasing participation of investors.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 20 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 26 points at 10:15am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, DSEX rose more than 18 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse advanced 21 points at 11:00am.

After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE advanced nearly 24 points, while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 28 points when the report was filed at 12noon.

DHAKA STOCK EXCHANGE:

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 5,868 points, advancing 24 points or 0.41 percent at 12noon.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also gained 7.15 points or 0.34 percent to reach at 2105 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also stayed positive zone till then, advancing 4.57 points or 0.35 percent to reach at 1,307 points.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at BDT 4.08 billion, when the report was filed at 12noon.

Bangladesh Building Systems led the turnover chart till then with shares worth BDT 318 million changing hands, closely followed by BSS Cables BDT 226 million, Ranpur Foundry BDT 151 million, Familytex BDT 118 million and Intech BDT 106 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 189 advanced, 78 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

CHITTAGONG STOCK EXCHANGE:

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend with its Selective Category

Index – CSCX – advancing 28 points to stand at 11,005 points, also at 12noon.

Of the issues traded till then, 106 gained, 56 declined and 25 issues remained unchanged with BDT 175 in turnover.
