Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Four organizations of Save the Children working in Bangladesh formally merged into “ONE Save the Children in Bangladesh” on Saturday to work together for the betterment of Bangladeshi children.
The merger of the Save the Children Australia, Save the Children Sweden-Denmark, Save the Children UK and Save the Children USA, took place at a ceremony in in the capital Dhaka.
The four organizations, working in 119 countries, have been operational in the country since 1973.
Launching of ONE Save the Children in Bangladesh will help avoid overlapping and duplication of programs taken by different Save the Children organizations in the country, the prime minister’s international affairs adviser Gowher Rizvi said while speaking at the ceremony.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, NGO Affairs Bureau Director General Nurul Kabir Talukdar, Save the Children, Asia Campaigns and Advocacy Director Michel Anglade, Professor Mehtab Khanom of Dhaka University and Save the Children Country Director Michael McGrath also spoke at the occasion.
