Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Khulna Power Company Ltd (KPCL) dominated the turnover chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday.

Market analysts said the investors were active both sides on Khulna Power’s shares almost throughout the week amid positive expectations.

According to statistics available with the DSE, about 24.62 million shares of KPCL were traded, generating a turnover of nearly BDT 1.71 billion, which was 3.25 percent of the DSE’s total turnover.

The total turnover on the DSE stood at BDT 52.71 billion last week against BDT 49.25 billion on the previous week.
The power generation company’s share closed at BDT 64.80 on Thursday, the last day of the week, losing 0.77 percent over the previous week.

Khulna Power, which was listed on the DSE in 2010, disbursed 30 percent cash and 10 percent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018. In 2017, the company paid 55 percent cash dividend.

The company’s earnings per share (EPS) stood at BDT 1.53 for July-September 2018 as against BDT 1.41 for July-September 2017.

The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was BDT 0.93 for July-September, 2018 as against BDT 1.17 for July-September, 2017.

The net asset value (NAV) per share was BDT 28.40 as on September 30, 2018 and BDT 26.87 as on June 30, 2018.
The company’s paid-up capital is BDT 3.97 billion, authorised capital is BDT 7.0 billion and the total number of securities is 397.41 million.

The sponsor-directors own 69.99 percent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 8.90 percent, foreign investors 0.69 percent and the general public 20.42 percent as of December 31, 2018.

BBS Cables followed next, with shares worth BDT 1.32 billion changing hands, followed by Olympic Industries BDT 1.26 billion, JMI Syringes BDT 859 million, United Power BDT 839 million, Brac Bank BDT 796 million and Singer Bangladesh BDT 790 million.

Active Fine Chemicals was also included in the top 10 turnover chart with shares worth BDT 784 million changing hands, followed by Dhaka Bank BDT 777 million and Al-Haj Textile BDT 675 million.
