Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– National Board of Revenue (NBR) has realized over BDT 4.14 billion in taxes from the Income Tax Fair held at seven divisional headquarters including Dhaka, officials said.
Besides, 10,041 tax identification numbers (TIN) were issued, 62,272 individuals submitted tax returns and 75,000 people took help from the help desk of the fair, convener of the fair MA Quader Sarker told reporters at the concluding session at the Officers’ Club in Dhaka on Thursday.
The six-day fair began Saturday last aiming to create awareness about tax payment and boost revenue collection.
The NBR has earned BDT 3.26 billion in taxes from the fair in Dhaka only exceeding our target of BDT3.0 billion while it was BDT 1.13 billion in the last year, Mr. Sarker added.
He also said the main goal of the fair was to make people aware about tax, inspire them to pay tax and bridge the gap between taxpayers and the NBR.
